Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar

SRT 200 is over. It has been a historical moment. Never before I have seen such a "farewell" for a sportstar. SRT is a role model for handling success. Someone who has reached to the heights of fame to this level, but always kept his composure. He is an inspiration beyond cricket. His "cricketting" skills are obvious points for pride. Having said that, the farewell also triggered me to think about how well the "farewell" has been managed by BCCI. Media is "kept" to the focus of SRT (only); A special series is arranged out of the blue - right choice ? ; Broadcasting, commentaries kept in alignment ; invitation to Bollywood; prompting the emotions of all the nation so synchronously; A perfect stage made for exit.... ; Sure not all can be controlled by BCCI. But to ensure that everyone sings the song in the same tune to this extent... it is amazing. I would love to watch the game for SRT at any time; Probably, there has been umpteen number of times SRT has played well for a losing cause - because we did not know to win. But is he a game changer for India - Not so prominent as he is projected to be. Is SRT far from contemporary legends - Dravid, Kumble & Kapil (from India) and many others abroad - I doubt it. Well, like any other Indian Cricket Fan, I just keep these thoughts aside and cherish the memories of the genius batting supremacy and the way SRT has conducted himself throughout his career despite his "God" position and controversies the game had gone through. As Harsha had bid the farewell, "maza aali " / " it was fun "
